WHO WE ARE

Turn HORSEPOWER INTO
SENIOR POWER

Since 2005, the award winning Seniors Around Town has been providing FREE door to door transportation for Orinda Seniors.  All funded through donations and the proceeds from this car show fundraiser.  Your donations keep our seniors on the move,  empowering them to remain independent. SAT is a program run by The Orinda Association, a 501(c)3 nonprofit.

Seniors need to get to a doctor’s appointment, get groceries, attend a social event, take care of their personal errands to remain in their homes. When seniors are no longer able to drive, they often lose the ability to live independently.

With just a little support, seniors can remain independent longer.  Seniors Around Town provides safe, easy to use community-based door to door transportation at no charge.  This helps keep the connection between the senior and the world outside of their home. And the community benefits as well.  Lasting friendships develop between riders, drivers, and staff.  During the short drives the riders and drivers share stories, mutual connections, history, and experiences. As we like to say, “It’s more than a ride”.

Neighbor helping neighbor!

Since all volunteers must reside in Orinda, there’s a sense of immediate connection and trust when someone from your community offers help.  They’re not considered a stranger because they shop at the same stores, go to the same parks, and their children went to the same schools.

Local volunteers are more comfortable finding their way, already familiar with the neighborhoods and surrounding towns.  Volunteers live within minutes of the rider’s home or destination, which reduces drive time and fuel.
